Raclette cheese is most known as a Swiss traditional cheese, but in the the French part of the Alps they also make Raclette cheese. Our French Raclette cheese from the Savoie region of the Alps is made from cow's milk and matured for at least 5 months. During this period the cheese develops a rich flavor as well as an aroma; it has a sticky natural rind.
It is a lot of fun to serve Raclette cheese is the traditional way with the tools we have today, an electric raclette burner, for quarter wheels and half wheels. Warm the cheese, scrape off the melted part and eat it while it's hot. This is the way it will be served in the restaurants in France as well. Of course you can slice and melt the cheese on your favorite dishes as well, like casseroles or burgers, pizza and pasta dishes.
We cut and wrap this cheese to order in 4 sizes: approximately 1 pound, 8 ounces, a 1/4 wheel (approximately 3.5 pounds) and 1/2 wheel (approximately 7 pounds).
NOTE: We'll weigh each quarter and half wheel before shipping. Because of the variation in the size/weight of the cheese, we'll charge your credit card according to the weight that will be shipped to you.
This item is perishable and will require an insulated shipping container and freeze packs and must ship by shipping methods taking a maximum of three days.
